Biography

Micayla Standish has been working for University Marketing and Communications since November 2015. She is a graphic designer in the office, where she creates marketing materials for a wide range of campus departments and initiatives.

A native of Brookings, Standish attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design and a minor in mass communications. After graduating, she returned to Brookings for a graphic design internship at Daktronics, gaining hands-on experience before joining University Marketing and Communications at South Dakota State University.

Standish specializes in Adobe InDesign and variable data design, with more than 10 years of experience designing print materials and working closely with printers to ensure accuracy, efficiency and high-quality production. Her background includes managing complex layouts, data-driven projects and print-ready files from concept through final delivery.

In addition to her role at SDSU, Standish is also the owner of a freelance design studio, where she works with clients on branding, marketing and template-based design projects. This work further strengthens her professional skill set and keeps her aligned with current design trends and industry standards.

  • Design and produce print and digital marketing materials for campus departments, managing projects from concept through final delivery.
  • Develop layouts for a wide range of high-visibility materials including brochures, postcards, signage, publications and advertisements while maintaining university brand standards.
  • Specialize in Adobe InDesign and variable data design, creating accurate, print-ready files for personalized and data-driven projects.
