Center for AI Innovation and Emergent Technologies
Established in spring 2026, the Center for AI Innovation and Emergent Technologies serves as a central hub for advancing the university’s land-grant mission through the curricular and operational integration of artificial intelligence and related emerging technologies.
Its purpose is to enhance teaching and learning, research and creative activity, and extension and community engagement by embedding AI literacy and competency into a wide range of educational areas, fostering interdisciplinary research and promoting innovation that benefits South Dakota, the region and the nation.
The Center for AI Innovation and Emergent Technologies further connects and strengthens South Dakota State University’s mission by serving as a dynamic space for integrating AI and related emergent technologies into the university’s core strategic goals. In essence, the Center’s mission is to make SDSU a regional and national leader in ethically driven AI innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and technology-enabled societal impact.
